New Exhibition: William Blake’s Universe

Home to one of the finest collections of Blake material in the UK, the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge has announced a new exhibition for 2024.

In a celebration of his visionary art, the Fitzwilliam Museum has announced a forthcoming exhibition, William Blake's Universe, featuring an exploration of the influential works of Blake alongside contemporary European artists. The exhibition is set to run from February 23, 2024, to May 19, 2024.

The exhibition will showcase a remarkable collection of Blake's masterpieces, offering a unique insight into the mind of one of the most enigmatic and visionary artists of the Romantic era. Blake's revolutionary approach to art and his profound impact on literature and visual culture will be spotlighted through an array of paintings, prints, and illuminated manuscripts.

Alongside his works, William Blake's Universe will include artworks by his European contemporaries such as the German romantic painters Philipp Otto Runge and Caspar David Friedrich – many of which have never been displayed publicly in the UK until now.

The exhibition is in partnership with Hamburger Kunstalle, Germany, and supported by the William Blake Trust, the Huo Family Foundation, and the Fitzwilliam Museum Development Trust.
